Vail Valley Medical Center Installs New CT Scanner
Vail Valley Medical Center recently announced the installation of a new state-of-the-art CT scanner the Toshiba Aquilion Premium and was the first in the state to install this machine. CT scans on the new machine are completed faster than on traditional CT scanners and reduces the amount of radiation needed to obtain high quality diagnostic images.
At Vail Valley Medical Center patient safety is our No. 1 priority. We upgraded our CT scanner because it is an advanced CT system which offers outstanding image quality a lower radiation dose and patient-friendly comfort features said Doris Kirchner president and CEO of Vail Valley Medical Center.
The Aquilion scanner has key safety features the medical center was looking for when considering the purchase of a new CT scanner. The radiation dose is automatically adjusted to minimize exposure based on a patient's age weight and type of exam. A number of advanced techniques are used to fine-tune the images after the scan further reducing the amount of radiation required to achieve optimal image clarity.
The system is an investment in the future and safety of patient care in our community and Eagle County said Gisele Riden imaging and cardiopulmonary director.
The medical center registered CT technologists were thoroughly trained to use this powerful diagnostic tool. They are able to perform very complex studies including detailed cardiac imaging. The outstanding image quality has improved clinicians' ability to more accurately diagnose disease at an early stage using a fraction of the radiation used by traditional CT scanners.
