Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action that focuses on educating the public about the vital steps to help save a life to empower them to take action in a bleeding emergency. 
 

Stop the Bleed Events

Be the difference and save a life! Anyone can learn to save a life. Uncontrolled bleeding is a major cause of preventative death and this short course teaches bystanders three quick actions to take until first responders arrive. Join our team and learn to save a life of a family member, friend or someone you might not even know.

The ABCs of bleeding that the course teaches include:
  • Alert - call 9-1-1
  • Bleeding - find the bleeding injury
  • Compress - apply presses to stop the bleeding
There are currently no Vail Health Stop the Bleed training events scheduled. Please check back for updates!

Stop the Bleed Kits

In partnership with Starting Hearts, Eagle County, and Vail Health, official Stop the Bleed kits have been installed in 200 AED locations including schools and law enforcement vehicles.

Stop the Bleed kits include:
  • A C-A-T tourniquet
  • Instructional booklet on bleeding control
  • QuikClot Bleeding Control Dressing
  • Protective gloves
  • Compression bandage
