Precourt Healing Center

Vail Health is building a new centrally-located behavioral health care facility at the Edwards Community Health Campus in Edwards, CO.

When adolescents and adults experience a behavioral health crisis in the Eagle River Valley, they currently must be transported two-or-more hours away to receive care. Vail Health and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Eagle Valley Behavioral Health, are taking steps to address this need by building the Precourt Healing Center, a centrally-located, in-patient behavioral health facility in Edwards, Colorado.

Approved Plan

On December 7, 2021, the Eagle County Commissioners approved Vail Health’s applications to amend the Planned Unit Development (PUD) that currently regulates land use of its Edwards Community Health Campus (formerly Northstar Center), located at 429/439 Edwards Access Road. The focal point of these approved amendments is to allow for the development of a new building dedicated exclusively to behavioral health. The approved amendments also modify permitted uses to allow for a range of health care-related uses and allow for additional future development to ensure that Vail Health can provide necessary health care to residents and guests of the Eagle River Valley.

Progress

With the government approvals now secured, Vail Health will begin finalizing the construction drawings with the intention of selecting a general contractor during winter 2021-2022. The goal is to begin construction on the Precourt Healing Center in the fall of 2022. The comprehensive community health campus already provides valuable services to the community, as the following organizations already operate in current buildings on the property: Vail Health Behavioral Health outpatient behavioral health clinic, the Community Market, My Future Pathways, MIRA Bus and United Way.
