Total joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which parts of an arthritic or damaged joint are removed and replaced with variations of designs and materials including metal, plastic or ceramic devices called prosthesis. There are typically three main parts to the prosthesis that are implanted during surgery. The plastic parts of the hip socket, the knee insert and patellar cap of the knee are comprised of polyethylene. The metal parts of the hip and knee joint are made of titanium, cobalt chrome, stainless steel and metal alloys.

Do you need a total joint replacement?

We know you work and play hard and therefore your joints have suffered the consequences and now have bony and cartilage changes. When the cartilage damage is severe, pain limits activity. Joint replacement therapy will be considered to relieve pain and restore function when all other treatment options have failed.

Reasons Why You Need a Total Joint Replacement:
Gradual degeneration of the joint cartilage due to natural aging and activity throughout life.
Repeated injury, previous surgical interventions or damage to the ligaments of the knee can cause damage to the joint cartilage. This causes pain, swelling and limited motion.
  • Family history of arthritis
  • Other medical conditions that interfere with joint health including but not limited to:
    • Autoimmune Diseases
    • Skeletal Alignment
    • Hip Deformity
