About the opportunity:

Are you looking for meaningful, patient-centered work in a cutting-edge oncology setting? Join the Radiation Oncology team at Shaw Cancer Center, where compassion meets technology in the fight against cancer. As a Radiation Oncology Care Technician, you’ll be more than a clinical support provider—you’ll be a steady, calming presence for patients undergoing life-changing treatment.

This role offers the chance to work closely with radiation therapists, nurses, physicians, and physicists in a collaborative, high-touch setting where continuity of care and emotional support are just as important as clinical excellence. If you enjoy both clinical detail and compassionate care—and thrive in a team-based environment—this is the opportunity for you.

What you will do:
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for radiation therapy patients throughout their treatment journey, offering support, guidance, and a friendly face.
  • Take and record accurate vitals, daily weights, and pre-treatment assessments.
  • Coordinate daily patient flow, ensuring that rooms are prepped and patients are ready for simulation, treatment, and follow-ups.
  • Assist radiation nurses with patient education, skin care monitoring, and treatment side effect tracking.
  • Document interactions, vitals, and changes in condition using the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and comforting care environment; perform light cleaning and restocking as needed.
  • Help coordinate lab draws, transport assistance, and interdepartmental communication for seamless care transitions.
  • Build meaningful relationships with patients receiving daily treatment for multiple weeks, supporting their emotional well-being as much as their physical health.
  • Support our Just Culture and live Vail Health’s mission of elevating health across our mountain communities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Why Join Shaw Cancer Center?

  • Work in a nationally recognized cancer center that blends advanced radiation technology with personalized care.
  • Become part of a tight-knit, mission-driven team that celebrates teamwork and professional development.
  • Serve patients in a beautiful mountain setting—where work-life balance and quality of life matter.
