Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator

- Serves as a central point of contact for patients, particularly those requiring follow-up care after abnormal screening results. Explains procedures and recommendations clearly to patients and provide educational materials on breast health. Educates patients on procedures, follow-up care, and medication management. Obtains informed consent for breast biopsies. Act as liaison between patients and medical professionals—including radiologists, surgeons, and pathologists—to ensure seamless care. Track patients requiring further diagnostic testing or biopsies and ensure completion of necessary appointments.
- Triages patient calls regarding pre and post-biopsy complications and evaluates patients in clinic as needed. Coordinate outside consults for surgery or biopsy, ensuring prior images and reports are obtained and reviewed by radiologists before scheduling.
- Calls pathology results and communicates findings to patients and providers. Send patient information to surgical and oncology navigators for atypical findings, new diagnoses, or clinical concerns.
- Obtains MRI orders for newly diagnosed patients. Schedules MRI-guided biopsies and follow up on MRI reports for callbacks. Work with surgical teams to ensure MRI correlations and localization orders are completed prior to surgery. Coordinate anticoagulation management by contacting referring providers for biopsy clearance.
- Assists with vital signs monitoring during adverse reactions (e.g., vasovagal episodes, lidocaine toxicity).
- Attends tumor board meetings to facilitate necessary imaging and procedures discussed in conference.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department.

- Must be HIPAA compliant
• Basic understanding of mammography and breast imaging workflows, preferred
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state, required
• Basic Life Support (BLS), required
• Breast Navigator Certification, preferred
• Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.
• Bachelors degree in Nursing, preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
