You’ll work alongside medical oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, navigators, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and palliative care specialists who share a common commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care.
What You’ll Do
As a Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner, you will:
- Provide comprehensive oncology and palliative care services in both clinic and home-based settings.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients throughout the cancer care continuum, from active treatment through survivorship and end-of-life care.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with medical oncologists, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.
- Manage treatment-related symptoms, toxicities, and urgent patient needs while supporting quality of life and symptom control.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, and coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Guide patients and families through complex decisions involving treatment options, symptom management, goals of care, and advance care planning.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across medical oncology, radiation oncology, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, nutrition, social work, and spiritual care.
- Contribute to the continued growth and innovation of the Shaw at Home program through quality improvement initiatives, program development, and patient-centered care strategies.
- Participate in shared after-hours call coverage and interdisciplinary team meetings.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner who values teamwork, relationship-building, and delivering exceptional care.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Board certification as AGNP, FNP, or ACNP
- Eligibility for and ability to maintain Colorado Nurse Practitioner licensure with prescriptive authority
- DEA license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver’s license meeting Vail Health DMV criteria
- Minimum two years of Nurse Practitioner experience
- Oncology RN or Oncology NP experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical oncology, palliative care, or hospice care
- Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) certification
- Expertise in oncology pharmacology, symptom management, and treatment-related toxicities
- Experience practicing within a multidisciplinary outpatient oncology setting
- Experience with Cerner or Epic electronic medical records
