Finance Director, Colorado Mountain Medical

Vail Health has become the world’s most advanced mountain healthcare system. Our updated 520,000-square-foot hospital opened in December 2020.  This state-of-the-art facility provides exceptional care to all of our patients, with the most beautiful views in the area, located centrally in Vail.

Roles based outside of our primary office can sit in any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. Pay is based upon relevant education and experience.
 
POSITION PURPOSE: 

Responsible for the daily functions of finance, planning, reporting, analysis, and decision support for Vail Health’s Colorado Mountain Medical (CMM) group. Assists leadership with fiscal modeling, reporting, and analytical support to operationalize and comply with regulatory and administrative requirements and to enhance operational efficiency. 

 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Oversee all financial activities for Vail Health’s CMM group, its physicians, and facilities.  
  2. Leads annual budgeting process across the supported entities and coordinates funding from the proper sources of program and operational costs. This includes working with internal departments supporting CMM’s integration with Vail Health to elevate health across our mountain communities. 
  3. Compares and reports on actual results to budget and updates and communicates projected results. 
  4. Develops and leads strategic analyses to drive growth and profitability. Develops internal analysis related to pricing, contracting, and policies for accepting and complying with Federal and state grants and contracts where appropriate. 
  5. Creates and administers the physician and APP compensation plans and prepares pro forma projections for expanding or enhancing CMM’s services. 
  6. Develops detailed financial projections for current entities and new facilities as needed. 
  7. Partners with business development, legal, real estate, foundation, and other teams to manage execution of growth plans (including build-out and launch of new clinics). Effectively communicates insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management. 
  8. Prepares detailed analyses and makes recommendations to manage ongoing performance. 
  9. Identifies, validates, and launches innovative methods to enhance operational efficiency. 
  10. Responsible for recognizing and communicating opportunities to improve financials across the service lines
  11. Reports dually to the President of CMM and to the Vail Health Vice President of Finance.
  12. Serves as a Role Model for the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values. 
  13. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) compliant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Experience:
  • 7 years leadership experience in finance, accounting or related experience required. 

  • Medical group finance experience

Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration or other related field required. Master’s Degree preferred. 

Position is eligible for hybrid remote-work arrangement with onsite presence as requested by Leadership
