Hike Wine & Dine Raises $100000

VAIL CO — On September 20th 400 leaf peepers in Beaver Creek did more than enjoy a beautiful day of blue skies and fall hues—these participants of the 7th annual Hike Wine & Dine raised over $100000 with proceeds benefitting Jack's Place and Shaw Regional Cancer Center.

Organized by the Shaw Outreach Team proceeds from Hike Wine & Dine help offset the operating costs for Jack's Place to ensure patients of Shaw Regional Cancer Center can rest and recover from their treatments without worrying about a place to stay. Since opening in March 2007 Jack's Place has provided over 8250 nights of respite for patients and their caregivers.

“We are so grateful to the Shaw Outreach Team for their continued support and dedication to Jack's Place and Shaw” said Vail Valley Medical Center's President and CEO Doris Kirchner. “Their dedication to making the journey through cancer treatment a little easier for patients at Shaw is helping hundreds of cancer patients each year.”

Sue Franciose a member of the Shaw Outreach Team has coordinated Hike Wine & Dine since its inception. “I'm honored to be a part of the Shaw Outreach Team and such a meaningful event” she said. “It's great to see the familiar faces that have been involved since the first year and the many new faces that join us each year. In seven years Hike Wine & Dine has raised over $400000 for Jack's Place and Shaw.”

Many Shaw patients as well as others who have fought a battle with cancer were honored through the purchase of yellow ribbons that adorned the trees along the trail.

As guests meandered along the scenic 5-mile hike they were greeted by the culinary geniuses from 8100 Mountainside Bar Osprey The Metropolitan Grouse Mountain Grill Dusty Boot Chophouse Green Elephant Juicery and Rimini who donated their talents to serve epicurean delights along the way.

“We are so grateful to everyone who supported and participated in Hike Wine & Dine as well as our generous sponsors and talented chefs” Franciose said. “We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day of great food and great views—all for a wonderful cause.”
