Volunteering at Vail Health is rewarding. With our many volunteer positions available, volunteers become part of a great team dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our patients, employees and physicians. 
 
Our current volunteer opportunities are varied and include:
Description:  Assist Emergency Department staff at Beaver Creek Medical Center with non-clinical tasks and offer patients and families assistance as directed. This position is available during the ski/snowboard season only.
Schedule: Ski season only, Thursday – Monday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing, supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed, comfortable interacting with people who are ill or in crisis, able to take directions and to work as a team member as well as independently.
 
Description: Volunteers on the Family Birthing Center assist staff in providing a high level of compassionate, patient-centered care. Volunteer duties range from stocking supplies, administrative help, answering phones and managing the door.
Schedule: Monday – Sunday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing, supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed, comfortable interacting with people, able to take directions and to work as a team member as well as independently.
Description: Offer guests, patients and employees an opportunity to purchase gifts, candy and merchandise.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (flexible); 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, demonstrate good customer service skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, possess excellent communication skills, and ability to use a Point of Sale (POS) system/register.
 
Description: Offer cookies and beverages to patients on the Patient Care Unit and Family Birth Center.
Schedule: Tuesday, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, comfortable being in the hospital environment and around people who are ill, able to move 30 pounds and able to maintain confidentiality.
 
Description:  To support clinical staff with patient needs in order to provide the highest level of care to our patients.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 12:00pm or 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Skills Required: Outgoing, ability to maintain confidentiality, high level of customer service, ability to stand for long periods of time and lift equipment.
Description: Volunteers on the Patient Care Unit and Family Birthing Center support staff in providing a high level of compassionate, patient-centered care. Volunteer duties range from stocking supplies, preparing patients for meals, visiting with patients, answering nurse call pagers and contributing to a healing environment.
Schedule: Monday – Saturday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing, supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed, comfortable interacting with people who are ill or just coming out of surgery, able to take directions and to work as a team member as well as independently.
Description: To provide patients, guests, and staff with therapeutic dog visits.
Schedule: Monday – Friday (flexible), afternoons, based on availability and patient census
Skills Required: Certification through Pet Partners, outgoing and friendly, ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate a desire to help patients and their families, good customer service skills and communication skills.
Description: Greet patients and guests, escort them to various areas of the center and provide information pertaining to Shaw Cancer Center and other clinics and services.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing, high level of customer service, able to escort patients to locations and comfortable being around people who are ill.
 
Description: Providing respite for the caregiver of Shaw patients by helping patients and families with household chores such as cooking, light housekeeping, yardwork, pet care and shoveling. Running errands such as groceries, prescriptions and other medical equipment needs. Companionship such as crafts, puzzling and reading. Provide office assistance by answering phones, filing, scheduling, data entry and gathering metrics.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4 hour shift, flexible scheduling
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate good customer service skills, possess excellent communication skills, displays a high level of compassion.
Description: Assist patients, family members, and staff with non-medical issues during clinic visits. To provide patients and family members with emotional support and a wide array of information about the clinics and services at the Shaw Cancer Center. 
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate good customer service skills, possess excellent communication skills, displays a high level of compassion.
 
Description: Help with volunteer and fundraisers and special events. Tasks could include serving as a committee chair, helping on a committee and/or working the day of the events.
Schedule: Varies
Skills Required: Organized, energetic and self-starter.
Description: To serve as a welcome break for staff and offer goodies and spiritual offerings to staff.
Schedule: Flexible, based on need.  
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate good customer service skills, ability to push a cart and possess excellent communication skills.
Description: Assist guests by escorting them to various areas of the hospital and by providing information pertaining to Vail Health, its clinics and services. Greet all patients and guests and manage complimentary services in the lobby. 
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Skills Required: Outgoing, high level of customer service, able to escort patients to locations and comfortable being around people who are ill or just out of surgery.
 
Description: Assist with administrative duties such as filing or entering data.
Schedule: Monday – Friday (flexible)
Skills Required: Detail-oriented, comfortable working with computers and other office equipment.
