En lugar de eso, juega de forma m\u00e1s segura afuera con estas estrategias inteligentes para el sol.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aire enrarecido, rayos intensos&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuando la gente piensa en destinos de gran altitud, a menudo piensa en la falta de aire y en jadear para respirar. Con menos atm\u00f3sfera para absorber y dispersar los rayos UV, m\u00e1s radiaci\u00f3n llega a nuestra piel.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNuestro cuerpo siempre est\u00e1 tratando de repararse a s\u00ed mismo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido de lo que puede desgastarse\u201d, explica <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vailhealth.org\/es\/acerca-de\/directorio-de-doctores\/melissa-omeara\/\" data-type=\"staff\" data-id=\"4410\">Dra. Melissa O\u2019Meara<\/a>, director m\u00e9dico de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vailhealth.org\/es\/servicios\/medicina-de-conserjeria\/\" data-type=\"service\" data-id=\"4759\">Medicina de conserjer\u00eda en Vail Health<\/a>. Cumple bastante bien su funci\u00f3n, pero aun as\u00ed puede dejar que acumulemos lentamente da\u00f1o en el ADN celular a lo largo de muchos a\u00f1os. La exposici\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica acelera el envejecimiento de la piel, contribuyendo a la aparici\u00f3n de arrugas, p\u00e9rdida de elasticidad, discrom\u00edas y muerte celular.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNuestras c\u00e9lulas usan el ADN como un plano que codifica todas las funciones de la c\u00e9lula\u201d, dice O\u2019Meara. La radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta puede da\u00f1ar el ADN hasta el punto en que no pueda funcionar correctamente. \u201cNuestros cuerpos tienen sistemas para detectar y reparar este tipo de problemas, pero la radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta puede debilitar esos sistemas al causar inflamaci\u00f3n y al suprimir localmente el sistema inmunol\u00f3gico\u201d.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conoce las se\u00f1ales&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El c\u00e1ncer de piel es com\u00fan, pero la detecci\u00f3n temprana mejora dr\u00e1sticamente los resultados. Hay tres tipos principales:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carcinoma de c\u00e9lulas basales: El m\u00e1s com\u00fan y de crecimiento lento.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carcinoma de c\u00e9lulas escamosas: de crecimiento m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido, pero a menudo muy tratable.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Melanoma: La forma m\u00e1s agresiva y potencialmente peligrosa.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La detecci\u00f3n temprana es una de las mejores maneras de proteger tu salud. Si notas un lunar sospechoso, consulta a tu proveedor de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y hazte un chequeo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menter recomienda revisar tu piel regularmente y usar la Regla ABCDE para identificar posibles signos de melanoma:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A = Asimetr\u00eda: Una mitad no coincide con la otra.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>B = Borde: Los bordes son desiguales o irregulares.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>C = Color: Varios colores o coloraci\u00f3n irregular.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>D = Di\u00e1metro: M\u00e1s grande que la goma de un l\u00e1piz.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>E = Evoluci\u00f3n: Cambiando de tama\u00f1o, forma o color.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para los residentes de monta\u00f1a y los entusiastas de las actividades al aire libre, los chequeos anuales de la piel deben considerarse parte de la atenci\u00f3n preventiva de rutina.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El Efecto Nieve&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mucha gente es diligente con el protector solar en julio, pero se olvida de \u00e9l en enero. Eso es un error.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLa nubosidad reduce m\u00e1s el espectro de la luz visible que el espectro de los rayos UV. Esto significa que un d\u00eda nublado te parecer\u00e1 oscuro, pero a\u00fan as\u00ed puede haber una cantidad significativa de radiaci\u00f3n UV\u201d, explica O\u2019Meara.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menter ofrece una regla general sencilla: \u201cSi todav\u00eda puedes ver una sombra, entonces est\u00e1s expuesto a los rayos UV\u201d. Eso significa que es hora de cubrirse.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El invierno trae consigo un reto adicional. La nieve refleja la radiaci\u00f3n UV hacia ti como si fuera un espejo gigante. La nieve y el hielo pueden reflejar hasta 85% de rayos UV, lo que te expone tanto desde arriba como desde abajo.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La conclusi\u00f3n es que la exposici\u00f3n a los rayos UV es una preocupaci\u00f3n durante todo el a\u00f1o en las monta\u00f1as, no solo en verano.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Protecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s inteligente&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Evitar el exterior no es la soluci\u00f3n. El tiempo al aire libre apoya la salud f\u00edsica, el bienestar mental y un estilo de vida activo. El objetivo es aprender a disfrutar de las monta\u00f1as mientras se reduce el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de piel en altitudes elevadas. Los expertos recomiendan un enfoque de protecci\u00f3n por capas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTen en cuenta cu\u00e1ndo son las horas pico de rayos UV. El sol de la ma\u00f1ana y el final de la tarde presentan un menor riesgo de quemaduras\u201d, explica Menter. \u201cPiensa en el \u00edndice UV para prevenir quemaduras y aseg\u00farate de usar protecci\u00f3n solar\u201d.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unos pocos h\u00e1bitos sencillos pueden marcar una gran diferencia:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Usa protector solar de amplio espectro (UVA y UVB) con FPS 30 o superior.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vuelve a aplicar cada dos horas.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No te olvides de los labios, las orejas, las manos y la parte de atr\u00e1s de las piernas.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elige sombreros de ala ancha y gafas de sol con protecci\u00f3n UV cuando sea posible.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Busca sombra durante las horas pico.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otra estrategia muy efectiva es la ropa con UPF. A diferencia del protector solar, las telas con clasificaci\u00f3n UPF no necesitan reaplicaci\u00f3n y cubrir\u00e1n esas zonas dif\u00edciles de alcanzar en tu espalda. Las sudaderas con capucha y los cubrecuellos se han vuelto cada vez m\u00e1s populares entre corredores, ciclistas y excursionistas que disfrutan pasar largas horas al aire libre.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Una Inversi\u00f3n para Toda la Vida&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La mayor\u00eda de los residentes de monta\u00f1a no se saltar\u00edan el ejercicio, los chequeos anuales ni una dieta saludable. La salud de la piel merece el mismo nivel de atenci\u00f3n, as\u00ed que prioriza la protecci\u00f3n solar durante todo el a\u00f1o.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La realidad es que el da\u00f1o solar se acumula durante d\u00e9cadas, pero los peque\u00f1os h\u00e1bitos diarios pueden tener un impacto significativo en la salud de la piel a largo plazo.
