Join us as Julie Lythcott-Haims draws on research and life experiences to highlight the ways overparenting harms children, their stressed-out parents, and society at large. Julie will expose the harms of helicopter parenting and sets forth an alternate philosophy for raising children and teens to self-sufficient young adulthood.

THERAPY VS REINVENTING YOURSELF
Dr. Fariñas will share approaches to behavioral health problems beyond traditional therapy. Dr. Fariñas will facilitate interactive small group discussions where participants will work together to identify acts of self-care that can improve behavioral health. Connecting with fellow community members will allow participants to learn from one another and begin to establish self-care practices that improve our daily lives.

GUEST SPEAKER: DR. JANINA E. FARIÑAS  
Dr. Janina E. Fariñas is principal of L’Ancla, and the Founder and Chief Executive of  the award winning La Cocina program(s) for Latinx community health.  Trained as a pediatric neuropsychologist and a family therapist, Dr. Fariñas’ areas of clinical and research expertise include very early and early childhood stress, toxic stress, adversity  and trauma, infant mental health, Latinx psychology, Latinx family studies, and Latinx health equity and community mental health.
