Supervisor, Clinical Nursing

Vail Health has become the world’s most advanced mountain healthcare system. Our updated 520,000-square-foot hospital opened in December 2020.  This state-of-the-art facility provides exceptional care to all of our patients, with the most beautiful views in the area, located centrally in Vail.

Roles based outside of our primary office can sit in any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. Day-to-day responsibility for planning, organizing, developing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating the quality of direct patient care throughout Vail Health Clinics. Emphasis is placed on safety, service and satisfaction as it relates to clinical practice, quality patient outcomes, leadership, staff development and professionalism. Ensures interdisciplinary collaboration with all departments to facilitate optimal patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

  1. Supervises the daily activities of clinical staff to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction, working in collaboration with unit directors, quality personnel, staff development and other members of the health care team to provide, enhance or improve care delivery to patient population by evaluating clinical practices, developing methodologies and implementing standards of care and best practice, providing consultative services, and by assessing and addressing patient and staff clinical educational needs.
  2. Provides support and leadership for clinical quality and safety meetings , while maintaining responsibility for innovation and change in patient care system.
  3. Act as role model for high level of nursing professionalism and application, while moving the patient efficiently through the care continuum. Function as a member/leader of the interdisciplinary care delivery team.
  4. Provides formal and informal education for clinical staff and other health professionals. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates quality and performance improvement efforts. Collaborates with other departments, including Quality and IT to implement evidence-based improvement initiatives using proven Lean strategies.
  5. Participates in the development of policies and procedures that are based on current recommendations and evidence. Ensures clinical staff adheres to policies and meets current standards.
  6. Assists with the development and monitoring of the budget. Practices efficient and cost-effective coordination of care and Vail Health Clinics.
  7. In collaboration with Vail Health Clinics’ leadership, designs and evaluates programs and initiatives that are congruent with the organization’s strategic plans, regulatory agency requirements, and nursing standards.
  8. Serves as a leader and liaison in problem-solving departmental issues/concerns to foster communication and cooperation and to ensure effective service for patients. Seek first to understand and come from a place of “What if?”
  9. Evaluates staff performance in alignment with Human Resource guidelines. Encourages and facilitates professional growth for all staff. Works to continually improve upon staff engagement and satisfaction.
  10. Promotes an atmosphere of warmth, compassion, and understanding while demonstrating empathy and the ability to relate to patients and their families.
  11. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

  • Minimum of two years nursing experience required
  • Leadership experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Lean process improvement experience preferred
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.
Pay is based upon relevant education and experience. 
Pay Range:
$35.30$65.57 USD
