Patient Accounts Representative

Some roles may be based outside of our Colorado office (as stated in the Job Title). Roles based outside of our primary office can sit in any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. Pay is based upon relevant education and experience.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for taking inbound calls, routing appropriately, responding to patient account inquiries and assisting patients with keeping their accounts current. They will join our Business Office team in Eagle, CO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promptly answers incoming calls in a professional manner, transfers to appropriate person, takes message if required or provide assistance as applicable.
  • Assists patients who have questions about their outstanding balances.
  • Processes and posts patient payments in a timely manner, according to set standards and procedures.
  • Obtains and updates patient account information as needed, including current mailing address, emails and telephone numbers. Working Return Mail daily.
  • Monitors 60- and 90-day account balances/notices in our automated collection module.
  • Generates payment plan reports and follows up with patients on their account balances.
  • Generates the refund check report and processes refunds accordingly.
  • Works with contracted collection agency company to maintain current patient accounts.
  • Promotes and contributes positively to the team, problem solving as needed.
  • Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous medical office or billing experience preferred.
  • Computer and typing proficiency. Ten key by touch preferred.
  • Displays strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Professionalism and ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to foster professional and productive relationships.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules and regulations preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

  • to a medical clinic environment.
