High Reliability Program Manager

Pay Range: Min: $43.73 Mid: $54.67. Pay is based upon relevant education and experience.
 
POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of Vail Health’s Patient Safety Officer, this position provides strategy, leadership and implementation of Vail Health’s journey to become a high reliability organization (HRO). accountability for delivering a high reliability, quality and safety-driven workplace.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1.  Oversees high reliability initiatives for the organization, develops patient safety goals and objectives, provides educational outreach on patient safety related initiatives, coordinates compliance with Joint Commission Patient Safety Standards, and Leapfrog criteria for patient safety.
  2. Manages a large program with multiple concurrent work streams, and focuses on several complex initiatives that address, implement, and apply HRO sustainment across the health system.
  3. Responsible for project delivery and business and technical integration. Identifies major phases, implementation steps, success metrics, timelines, resource needs and potential obstacles for each value streams.
  4. Acts as a subject matter expert in Patient Safety, Systems Thinking, High Reliability Organizations (HRO), Just Culture and Quality Improvement. Uses these skills to foster the development of enterprise-wide HRO and serves as a subject matter expert for team, department and organizational initiatives supporting the broader enterprise program.
  5. Reviews and investigates patient safety event reports. Utilizes patient safety event data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and leads and participates in improvement initiatives.
  6. Facilitates Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and case debriefs as part of our patient safety program and patient safety work product.
  7.  Works with Clinical Teams to develop and implement strategies for improved patient safety and patient care.
  8. Develops and facilitates organizational education, training and awareness campaigns on patient safety and high reliability.
  9. Manages the organizational safety culture survey implementation, analysis, and associated action plans.
  10. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
  • Three to five years hospital experience required.
  • Experience in Patient Safety/Risk Management preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
License(s):
  • NA
Certification(s):
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) Institute for Healthcare Improvement preferred.":
Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc
 
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
 
Education:
  • Bachelors degree required.
