Behavioral Health Care Technician

Some roles may be based outside of our Colorado office (as stated in the Job Title). Roles based outside of our primary office can sit in any of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI. - Provides medical case management and care coordination, as needed, including connecting patients to other BH resources, services lines, and staff, as appropriate, and coordinating provider ordered diagnostics or therapeutic services.
- Provides patient education, to ensure patients are informed about behavioral health services, procedures, and appointment types, as relevant to their treatment and care.
- Utilizes documented workflows and procedures to assist in medication refills, schedule priority/acute patients, and coordinate care with care team members. Works in conjunction with patient access team and medical providers to ensure patients are registered and scheduled for regular follow up appointments, as clinically appropriate.
- Obtains, monitors, and records vitals, as appropriate and enters data to medical records. Monitors behavioral health and medical condition of patient and reports changes to appropriate provider or care team.
- Supports providers with completing intake procedures and other processes related to direct patient care including but not limited to rooming patients, collection of consent forms, releases of information, and completion of any biographical information.
- Interviews patients, as needed to obtain and update medical information.
- Communicates relevant information to medical, administrative, and clinical staff, as part of the treatment team.
- Participates in clinical and administrative meetings, in-services, trainings, and supervisory sessions, as required.
- Responds to patient inquiries promptly and in a professional and trauma-informed manner, documents patient communications, and supports in the priority scheduling of acute patients.
- Acts as first line of access for psychiatric medication patients; triages incoming patient inquiries and concerns and connects patient to appropriate level of care and/or medical staff in a time-sensitive manner.
- Prepares patients and participates in scheduled procedures, as appropriate to level of training
- Ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) including but not limited to patient care notes, consents, and releases of information.
- Performs regular data collection and analysis, as assigned, to enhance patient access to, and experience of, behavioral health services.
- Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in examination rooms; Replaces supplies depleted on a daily basis.
- Assists with the administration and scoring of behavioral health (BH) questionnaires and assessments.
- Assists all providers and other clinical staff as needed and assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
- Computer and typing proficiency.
- Ability to effectively organize resources, establish priorities and perform multiple tasks.
- Professionalism and ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues.
- Ability to listen, comprehend and process a variety of detailed information.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- One of the following is required:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association
- Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification Association
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant by the National Association for Health Professionals
- State of Colorado Licensed Practical Nurse or a valid Compact State
- State of Colorado Certified Nurse Aide (NA)
- Mental Health Ally certification by PsychHub preferred
- Speak Up Reach Out Training by SpeakUp ReachOut preferred
- Previous experience working with electronic medical record systems, preferred
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
