COVID-19 Vaccinations

We have learned that we will not be receiving any additional vaccine this week, as such we are not hosting any new 1st dose clinics.  We hope we will receive additional vaccine next week, and start 1st dose clinics again soon.

In a coordinated effort, Vail Health is working with Eagle County Public Health to schedule COVID-19 vaccinations for Eagle County community members.

All public COVID-19 vaccinations are being scheduled by Eagle County Public HealthEagle County residents may sign up for future vaccine clinics using the Eagle County COVID-19 Vaccination Request Form or by calling 970-328-9750. If the number of sign-ups exceeds the available amount of vaccine doses, appointments will be issued based on a lottery system among those eligible residents. Those who are selected to receive a vaccination will be contacted using the phone or email address they provided to schedule an appointment.

Wednesday, January 20: Vail Health 2nd Dose Vaccine Clinic 
  • No first doses will be given.
  • On Wednesday, January 20 from 7am-7pm, Vail Health will be providing 2nd doses of the Moderna vaccine for those that received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine on December 23 at Vail Health Hospital (first and second doses of Moderna are administered 4 weeks apart). Vail Health has the names of the eligible patients, so you do not need to schedule a time but can come by the Vaccine Clinic in the former emergency department of Vail Health anytime between 7am-7pm for your second dose. If eligible for your second dose on January 20, please bring your ID, health insurance card and COVID-19 vaccine card.
 

Currently Eligible to Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine

  1. Residents of Eagle County
    • Age 70 or older
       
  2. Employed in Eagle County
    • Healthcare workers with COVID-19 patient contact
    • First responders
    • Dentists
    • Pharmacists
    • Home Healthcare providers
    • Long term care facilities
    • Behavioral health providers seeing patients in person
       

What To Consider When Scheduling Your Appointment

  1. You cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine if you have received any other vaccines within 14 days.
  2. You must meet the criteria below to receive a vaccine:
    • Residents are defined as those with a permanent mailing or physical address within Eagle County, and who will be present for 30 days past their first dose of vaccine to receive a second dose; or, those who own property in Eagle County and reside there for greater than 30 days at a time, and who will be present for 30 days past their first dose of the vaccine to receive a second dose

  4. If you have received your first dose with Vail Health, an appointment will be schedule with you for your second dose at Vail Health. If you have questions, please email covidvaccine@vailhealth.org.
    • Pfizer is 21 days after first dose
    • Moderna is 28 days after first dose 


Vail Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

If Eagle County Public Health assigns you to a Vail Health COVID-19 vaccine clinic, here is what you need to know:

  1. If you have questions about your Vail Health COVID-19 vaccine appointment, please email covidvaccine@vailhealth.org.
  2. Please arrive at the Vail Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, in the former Emergency Room of the west wing of the hospital, during the window you sign up for.
    • The Vail Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic is located in the former Emergency Room of the west wing of the hospital at 181 West Meadow Drive in Vail, Colorado.
    • If you are coming for the vaccine only, we ask that you park in Lionshead as the structure is free for 2 hours. The West parking lot is reserved for The Steadman Clinic and Howard Head Sports Medicine patients, but is available if necessary for accessibility. You may also use the patient parking accessible via South Frontage Road.
    • The appointment will take approximately 45 minutes.
    • The hospital is currently not permitting visitors. We are permitting one visitor or caregiver to accompany you to your appointment only if there is a medical need
  3. You will be directed to a line to register for your appointment
    • Please come prepared with the following documents
      • Government Identification (Driver’s License, Passport, etc. to validate current age)
      • Insurance Card (if available)
    • Although we are collecting insurance information, patients will not incur any costs for vaccination appointments regardless of insurance status.
    • You will be directed to a space to receive your vaccine.
    • After your vaccine, you will be asked to wait in the lobby for a 15 minute observation period in order to ensure it is safe for you to return home
